INDIA VS. AUSTRALIA ODI - AUSTRALIA FAVOURITES

INDIA LOST ODI

India lost to the visiting team after Australia decided to bat first scoring 292 for 8 wickets. Ricky Ponting was the highets scorer with 74 runs with Paine making 50 runs. Sharma took 3 wickets after which India could make only 288 runs falling short of a victory by only 5 runs. This is the first of the seven one day international series to be played in various venues in India. At one point the Indian team was at 201 for 7 and the game looked overat which time Harbhajan Singh and Praveen Kumar brought India back into the fight and scored 84 runs in just 57 balls before Harbhajan gave in to Siddle.

Australia are favourites in the ODI series after  their success in the Champions trophy. The odds for the Australians will be at 4/5 before the next match on Wed, October 28 for an Australian win.
