The facilities will be extended to a 24 hour helpline also and will be available for 16 hours in the stadia, through the entire week. The commencement of the helpdesk will be 2 weeks before the beginning of the games i.e. by September 29, 2010.

PREPARATIONS STATUS

The Chairman of the CGF Mike Fennell is in New Delhi to take stock of the preparations that are being made to host the Commonwealth Games in New Delhi in October 2010. Earlier on Tuesday, the Chief Minister of Delhi, Sheila Dikshit briefed the Prime Minister about the status of preparations for the Games. Fennell has already expressed concerns about the lack of adequate preparations for the Games, as reported earlier.

CWG COUNTER VIEW

It has been reported earlier on this site about the concern over preparations that had been raised by Mike Fennell, chairman of the Commonwealth Games federation. However, there is a section of the CWG that feels that they do not see any issue in New Delhi hosting the best ever Games. This is based on the frenetic pace at which the preparations are on in New Delhi and the high enthusiasm with which the volunteers are working to ensure that the Games will be a success. Amongst those who have expressed optimism are Peter Heatley, ex-chairman of the CGF, who was at the helm at the time of the Edinburgh Commonwealth Games in 1986. This was the time when 32 countries boycotted the Games to register their protest against the UK which supported the apartheid-tainted government of South Africa. Heatley went on to say that the Games held in Edinburgh, though boycotted by many counties, was considered a huge success. He also said that each consecutive Commonwealth Games have a higher number of participants and thus New Delhi in 2010 will have the largest number of participants ever.

  1. According to my assesment still lot of motivation is required from CWG Chief for completion of project as indian beurocatic administration takes decsion in hue and cry.
Polticians are bussy in leg pulling of each other they don't have any experienc to host such mega events so far.
Now time has come to act and induct experts to monitor all projects with micro security.
