Crisis management   at its best while New Delhi hurtles towards the launch of the Commonwealth Games in October 2010. Government authorities are confident that all work will be completed on time, never mind the delays. Numerous projects are underway in the megapolis of over 20 million for development of the city. The bus transport company DTC(Delhi Transport Corporation) has added low floor buses to its existing fleet. In order to showcase New Delhi as an international city the Home Minister P.Chidambaram has called on the people in Delhi to project a good image of the city by following discipline on the roads and by behaving like residents of an international city.

The Railway stations in Delhi are undergoing renovation as well as the aiport. The Metro Rail network is being completed at a frenetic pace in order to be ready before the Games begin. The Indian Government knows that the Games can be used to display the kind of economic progress that the country has made similar to the Olympics that were held in Beijing where China showed the world it's infrastructure and progress.

AIR INDIA TO FLY ATHLETES

Air India has been awarder the official carrier status for the Commonwealth Games. In this regard Air India will also charter aircraft and alos work with other airlines to fly athletes in for the Games. Packages will be introduced for people to come and visit the country for the Games.

NEWS FROM THE WORLD

Brazil won the hosting rights for the 2016 Olympics for the city of Rio de Janiero. The other cities in the fray were Madrid, Chicago and Tokyo. Chicago was even backed by Pesident Obama himself, whose home city it is. Hosting the Olympics has been considered a ticket to the big league where a country is considered to have 'arrived'. China hosted the last Olympics and realized the great tourism potential that hosting the Olympic Games holds. Rio de Janiero hosting the 2016 Olympics indicates that Brazil is becoming a country to watch out for. Since South America has never hosted the Olympics Rio gained support for hosting the 2016 Olympics. The bidding process for 2020 Olympics will begin in 2011.

Jamaica - Omar Brown the reigning champion in the 200m category is expected to defend his title at the Commonwealth Games in October 2010. Omar suffered an ankle injury and had returned to the sport only in September this year, after undergoing an operation. H had been the star of the Melbourne Olympics where he had a close finish to win the 200m title.
